Parenting on the road

We're off on some big adventures-
Come and follow along as I document life on the road.
All things parenting, relationships, home schooling and life learning.
All amongst the calm and the chaos of family life, squished into a van.
It will be messy and imperfect as I navigate the realities of meeting my needs alongside my family.
Hello there,

Well we’re coming to the end of our Farmsit stay with only a week to go.
It’s cold down here in the Western Districts and my body and soul are craving some warmer weather.
Personally I’ve had a time physically with some dental work which resulted in some trips back home and a flare up of chilblains for my little toes. They are sore and my vision is this time next year we’ll be adventuring somewhere warm so we miss this level of winter coldness.
All that aside there have been so many benefits of this time together and a small taste of farming life for us.
The boys have absolutely thrived and the skills and growth that has taken place in 8 weeks is extraordinary.
They’re navigating chores and ‘farm work’ with less resistance and driving all sorts of vehicles confidently.
I think the lack of convenience with the closest town 40mins away and most of our time spent together is very conducive to a harmonious, connected family unit (not in a perfect, rainbows and unicorns way, but generally a more connected and regulated hum in our family).
We have spent more time sitting down to meals (many of which the boys have helped prepare and cook) which I think has resulted in them eating and trying new foods, which felt like such a daily struggle not too long ago.
We’ve enjoyed some day trips exploring the local area and finding our flow in the daily life of the farm, checking stock and feeding and tending to all the animals.
I’ve managed a pocket of time to sit down and get this out to you all, before the week ahead is cleaning, packing and organising to hit the road next weekend.
I almost can’t believe we’re nearing the end of July and with some really exciting adventures on the horizon I’m looking forward to staying connected with you all on here.
I am finding some lovely pockets of time and spaciousness to feel into some more parenting coaching and motherhood support sessions.
It’s giving me much needed zest in my weeks to support some beautiful mums in their parenting challenges and day to day chaos of life. Honestly having a space to feel held, heard and seen in daily life can be life giving for yourself and in turn your whole family unit.
This support might be seen as a luxury, or a nice to have, and not always essential. But if we acknowledge that our kids are adults for most of their life, the attention and energy for you and your parenting matters now.
I have a beautifully supportive offer that will help you be confident that you’ll have deeply connected relationships with your kids as they grow into teens and into their adult lives.
Parents Matter:
It’s 30 minutes with me, online over Zoom. Some mums love to ‘walk and talk’ as the movement helps the process and also enables you to be solo and present with yourself.
Book in for a time that suits you and your family’s flow, with an investment of $75.
A chance to bring any issues or challenges that you’re experiencing at the moment and feel the ripples of support flow through your whole body and family.
You are so worthy and deserving of some extra loving support to navigate and hold everything in your world right now.
Some things I’ve been pondering lately…
Am I the only one not using AI in my business or life??
Maybe, I don’t know. I’m not completely apposed to AI, although personally I think the cons outweigh the pros, but I just haven’t become accustomed to using it.
I don’t use it to help in any of my social media, content or even asking it questions, which I did a few times in the past and I completely see the benefits and how it helps with time, efficiency and even deepening my understanding and curiosity on some topics, but it’s just not a habit I have formed. I almost forget about and still seem to be using good old google!!!
Rites of Passage work.
This is something that lights me up and has a place in my future personally and professionally.
I would love to do some work in this space and deepen my knowledge and skills for supporting our kids and the families I work with through various rites of passages we move through in life.
Particularly for kids and their connections with their parents, I think this area of knowledge has been lost in the way we live in modern day and as things get busier and louder for our children how can we offer them the safest, most supportive environment to move through the rite of passage as they grow in to teens and into early adulthood.
We are adults for most of our life, and as cliché as it is, time really does go by so fast.
I was sitting in a cafe the other day with our youngest and as he was happily playing with an army man and a toy plane we had just purchased I watched a dad with three young adult children at a nearby table. Their laughter and banter, whilst I couldn’t hear what was being said was so contagious and I found myself smiling as I watched them. It had me pondering about what it will be like when Dom and I are sitting at a table out with the boys as young adults, if we’re lucky enough to have those experiences, what a cool thing to look forward to.
I’d love to know what you’ve been pondering lately?
I think these times call for lots of connection, whether it’s in nature, or some dedicated screen free time where you can be completely present, so this week I’m sending you loads of love and hope you can find some joy in the mundane, have a good belly laugh and even some tears. Because it’s all welcome here.
Much love,
Emily x
