The Kitchen Table - the place where I connect with my passion, my work, and my community.
All amongst the calm and the chaos of family life.
It's messy, it's imperfect and it's the daily realities of meeting my needs alongside my family.

Hello there mamma,
It's been an incredibly big few weeks in this house, and we're all feeling it.
Things are still oscillating between organised chaos and complete overwhelm.
I have not had capacity to be very present with my business and posting this blog has been on the back burner for a week or more.
Thank you to the mammas that reached out and expressed interest in my offering idea around connection activities to do one on one with your child.
It is so often the way that creative ideas come in, and my reality of being at home with our boys full time requires so much of me, that the momentum doesn't always follow the initial spark.
I am still very much invested in bringing this idea and offering to life. If you haven't already click the button below for Play & Connect to be sure to receive the updates.
This week with all that we have going on, I've been focused on the basics.
For me that is:
💛nourishing food and enough of it,
💛movement,
💛sunshine (when it's out!) & nature,
💛sleep and my evening routine.
Sounds simple, but without these pillars as a focus, life can feel much harder and my capacity is stretched.
I'd love to invite you to consider and maybe write down somewhere you'll see it, what your pillars are?
For me, after dinner the kitchen is closed, I have a cup of tea and have been (trying) to practice 'mothering myself to bed'.
Have you ever noticed the time and rituals spent putting your children to bed. Only to then spend the following hour or so, scrolling, snacking, doing the kitchen and prepping for the day ahead?? Is there a way you can prioritise yourself in this period of the day.
I have also been preparing and prioritising a nourishing breakfast and lunch. I got into a habit of packing the boys lunchboxes for a day out, but then not manage to pack myself a nourishing and sustaining lunch (I know I'm not alone in this). This certainly impacts my mood and capacity to hold the emotional load at the end of the day when we return home to the evening routine.
Daily movement is fast becoming a non-negotiable, but it's been a slow burn. It is a habit I am rather proud to say I have remained consistent with, after many years of exercising for looks, it's such a different and empowering feeling to feel the strength and muscle composition change within my body.
Autumn weather has set in for us this last week and I snoozed my alarm most of last week. I felt it. I was way more snappy, had less tolerance and felt a little more blah in the day to day.
I am back at it this week, without the guilt and shame of 'falling off the bandwagon' - a story I know all too well, and my mental, emotional and physical body is already thanking me for it.
When parenting and life feels tricky or overwhelming I hope you can consider what basics you can come back to? the ones we have access to all of the time. Simple yet impactful.
With love and connection,
Emily x
